Ancient Agia Triada

This archaeological area was named after the small church of Agia Triada, located in the southwestern part of the archaeological area. During the Minoan Era a road started from Phaestos and ended at the royal villa of Agia Triada.

This villa or palace may have been the summer residence of the kings of Phaestos, though this still remains a mystery. Even the ancient name that was given to the area still remains unknown.

The fact that Agia Triada was once an important area is proved by the works of art that were found there.
